Dry Fasting and its powerful benefits

Today I found this interesting article about Dry Fasting. I'm sure there are a lot of sceptical people out there when comes to Dry Fast. Instead there's a lot of science behind the benefits of Dry Fasting and Fasting in general. Everyone should incorporate a type of Fast in their life - I strongly believe that our bodies were not created to be repeatedly fed during the day.

A TRUE LIFE OR DEATH SCENARIO
On extended dry fasts the first few days are the roughest as the body is still optimistically holding out for food or water but once it figures out that water and food are not coming and that death is imminent if it doesn’t adapt and fast to given circumstance it switches gears into survival mode— this highly adapted state IS the magical key of dry fasting. Survival of the fittest. All weakness is eradicated. The option of supporting the diseased and parasitic is no longer viable. All non essentials are eliminated and recycled to sustain the essentials. This IS cellular renewal at the deepest level— unattainable by any other means.

RESTRICTION OF FEEDING TIME — WHY?
**It’s not what you eat so much as WHEN you eat**
“Feeding schedule has been shown to have a significant impact on health and survival. In studies, time-restricted feeding had profound effects on neural, peripheral, and cardiovascular physiology and improved sleep, body weight maintenance, and delayed signs of cardiac aging, under UNCHANGED caloric intake and activity.”

Dry fasting can cause too severe detoxing

I found this interesting article about Dry Fasting and I wanted to share with you:

In the distant past, when dry fasting was practiced more commonly, and usually performed as a sacrifice or a show of faith, it was done by a healthy individual -- healthy to a degree difficult for us to attain who live in technology-laden societies.
Modern day toxins find their way into our systems, no matter how carefully we try to prevent it. A dry fast may cause too quick a release of toxins that then have less fluid than usual with which to be carried away. The release of hard metals into the system would be the most damaging. Detoxing into a dehydrated system isn't wise. And, even if you're fasting not to detox, but for spiritual reasons, there is no way to avoid the natural detoxing that will occur.
Having said all that, if you really want to do a dry fast, if you feel guided and compelled, work your way up to it. Start with easier and gentler cleansing fasts, like juice or fruit, and follow a cleansing diet for a few months. Following a raw food diet is especially helpful.

You really must detoxify your body
and gain experience of the fasting process
before attempting such an extreme fast as dry fasting.

Fasting is never to be an abuse on your body. Follow your inner guidance, and maintain your intention to honor and respect your physical body, as dry fasting isn't about increasing physical health, per se; and one of your spiritual responsibilities is to maintain the health of your physical body--your soul's temple.

Difference between starving and Ketosis

I’m always curious to learn about other people’s Fasting experiences so I watch lots of videos and sometime I come across vloggers doing all sort of Fasts. Mono-fruit fasts, bacon fast, juice fast and so on. One thing I don’t understand is why people do not research anything about health or how the body works before beginning these types of fasts. I mean, if you’re followed by a doctor or a clinic, that’s fine – I’m sure they’re professionals and they know what they are doing….well at least in most of the cases I guess. But if you’re fasting as DIY I would think that – considering the risks – the minimum would be to take a look at the side effects or any possible harm I can do to my body! Well it's not that obvious.
So now I want to talk about the substantial difference between Fasting and starving myself.
If I Water fast or Dry fast – as long as I have extra fat on my body – I won’t be starving myself, give that my body, after 2/3 days, will switch from burning sugar to burning fat – the magic of being into Ketosis!
Here - from this article - a clear explanation why burning fat and being into Ketosis will help me NOT being in starvation:
Human fat is valued at 3,500 calories per pound. Each extra pound of fat will supply enough calories for one day of hard physical labor. Ten pounds of fat are equal to 35,000 calories! This is equivalent to 35 pounds of fish or 192 pounds of carrots, good value for your fat. We carry around a supermarket of reserves, capable of sustaining us for many weeks.
On the other hand, if I’m “fasting” while basically doing an extreme caloric restricted diet – like mono-fruit juice fast, Master Fast System, or just simply mono-fruit eating diet – well then I’m not only depleting my body of all essential nutriments that I need but I’m not allowing myself to go into Ketosis (due to the high amount of sugar), so my body is still trying to run on glucose and not accessing directly to the fat storage that I have all over my body.
Those types of diets are harmful, would make me feel super weak, will eat all my muscle tissues, it cannot be sustained for long period of time.

Why I have a white-coated tongue while Fasting?

So curious on why my tongue is white when I’m fasting I did some researches and try to find a scientific reason for it; I was never sold on the detoxing through your tongue theory. I found different medical answers basically reporting similar responses, this is a simple one found at this link:

"Your tongue is covered with little finger-like projections called papillae. These are what give it a rough velvety surface. They are not the same thing as taste buds!
The papillae themselves are coated with cells; technically stratified squamous epithelial cells, but don't get put off by this detail.
As we eat normally, those cells are sloughed off the tongue (and the other tissues of the mouth) by abrasion with food as it goes past. A mouthful of dry tortilla chips is quite abrasive. So they are continually being formed to replace the ones which are lost.
After a day or so without eating, those cells are still being formed; your tongue doesn't know you are fasting. As a result, a thicker layer than normal builds up, giving a whitish appearance.
After a few normal mouthfuls, the surface cells have been abraded away normally and your tongue looks pink again."

So basically my tongue is white just because, since I’m fasting, all those cells that cover my papillae are keeping on being produces and never scraped off. Now that makes perfect sense to me. When Dry Fasting the white-coated tongue appears way faster than a Water Fast, I guess because somehow the water, the lemon scrape off some of the cells being produced, so the whitening process is kind of slower.

Results seen in dry fasting

I found an interesting article about Dry Fasting and its benefits so I wanted to share it, you can read the full article at this link:

"Inflammation cannot exist without water. Microorganisms need water to survive. These facts taken together make dry fasting a highly effective tool to address acute health issues and degenerative conditions. Such a fast stimulates the immune system, activates the body’s anti-inflammatory mechanisms, purifies the blood and clears the blood vessels, as well as cleanses the GI tract and renews its mucosal lining.
Dry fasting also eliminates parasites and promotes regeneration of healthy tissues. And this isn’t even a complete list of benefits. Every cell of the body literally cleans house. Only the strongest and healthiest of cells survive in such extreme conditions, while cysts and benign tumors dissolve as a result of autolysis, a process by which the body sacrifices its sickest cells for its own survival."

My diet is becoming my main stress

Today I was reading an article regarding the Candida issues on the Candida Crusher website and mistakes to avoid; one part really made me laugh and feeling guilty at the same time. I’m copying here his words so you can see if you read between the lines yourself as well:

"Any kind of food can feed Candida, especially what we’ll look at a little bit later on is when you’re diet focused and you’re not understanding about the stress connection. Because when you become very focused on diet, it becomes a stress in its own right. You annoy the hell out of people around you. You start annoying yourself after a while, it becomes a stress. You can’t live like this for long. Lots of these diets like GAPS and SCD were not designed for you to be on for 19 years. They were designed for short duration and to get you the hell off that diet."

Water Fasting - For the most intense fasting experience

Today I read this article and I wanted to add some extract to my blog, to explain how powerful can be a Water Fast:

"Water fasting offers the quickest detox and strongest therapeutic effect. It is also the most challenging fast to perform in the first few days.
Some call water fasting the only "true" fast and believe that any food allowed into the bodily system prevents the complete resting state desired, compromising the level of cleansing and detox attained. While it is true that water fasting is the most intense path to detoxification and therapeutic benefit, other types of fasting, and even cleansing diets, detox and heal as well.
The speed at which old conditions can right themselves during a water fast is incredible.
It's amazing the little health "issues" that just go away--the mole that just drops off, the shoulder that's been achy for years suddenly feels well again, that little patch of "weird" skin you've grown accustomed to vanish without a trace...and those are just the little things.
Besides the emotional challenge of going without food, these first days may have the most intense and uncomfortable symptoms of detoxification. After that, the body adjusts to the new fasting state, and most individuals feel little further discomfort, even hunger disappears. After 2-3 days, the body goes into a state called ketosis, where it begins to fuel itself internally by burning fat cells. Ketosis occurs around 48 hours for women and 72 hours for men according to Dr. Joel Fuhrman, author of Fasting and Eating for Health.
The length of time one can safely operate in ketosis varies from person to person. When hunger returns, often called "true hunger", it will be an unmistakable call of the body for nourishment, and is a signal to end the fast.
Fasting is a personal journey--you are not competing with anyone. Your body dictates how long you can safely fast, not your head.
Trust yourself."
