Dry Fasting - Day by Day journal

Dry Fast Day #3 - 60 hours
My Dry Fast is started, fortunately with just a mild headache on day one, I don't have any withdrawal symptoms at the moment. I'm not thirsty nor hungry, my ketosis this morning was on a good 60 mg/dL, pretty high for Day #3. I'm regularly checking also my blood pressure and it's still in normal ranges - I do feel heart beating faster sometimes and a strange hot-weakness-feeling, but apparently those symptoms are not related to the blood pressure, otherwise I should see a spike somewhere.
I'm aiming on doing at least 7 days Dry Fasting; results on this type of Fast are always remarkable for me.
On Day #1 I also took my glucose level, so I can compare it with the value after a week of fasting. It will be interesting to see the difference between regular eating, dry fasting and water fasting - how my blood glucose level is affected by these types of fast. I feel my arms a bit weak, maybe a bit less than usual, I'm sure I will feel better once I resume water and electrolytes. I'm not urinating often, however, I lost already 2.6 Kg (5.7lb) - which mostly would be liquid I guess. My weight loss will slow down soon I'm sure - but it's ok, I'm always worried when I see my body losing weight that quickly, because I know it will regain back everything at higher speed!
I can feel that I'm already dehydrated, at the end of day one I had some vaginal discharge, very common when I do a Dry Fast. Now it is almost disappeared though, I guess my body is adjusting to the fasting state. This time around my tongue is not getting white coated, or at least not yet; it doesn't even bother me so far, which is a huge plus for me that I could not stand at all the coated tongue feeling, I hated and I believe often it was the reason for me to break a fast.
Dry Fast Day #3 - 60 hours
I went downstairs for a walk during lunch time; at the begin I thought I would not be able to walk much and feel weak. Not at all actually, I felt normal as every other day. But then again, I should remind myself that is not even 3 full days without water/food, it is not that much. I'm sure I have enough fat on me that could be metabolized to create water and food for my body! Sometimes I feel a little pain on my kidneys area, not sure if it's my posture on my chair or my kidneys being stressed by the fast. I should check my glucose tonight, to see how it is - I'm very curious. I don't feel thirsty nor hungry, I didn't have any stomach growling wave today, I believe. My ketosis is helping me a lot I know. I think I can easily go over 100 hours with this Dry Fast, at least right now I feel perfectly normal, not even my tongue is bothering me!
Dry Fast Day #4 - 84 hours
My Dry Fasting is going well so far, I'm starting to feel my mouth a bit dry, but nothing unbearable. Yesterday I checked my blood glucose and was 81 mg/dL, compared to the 85 mg/dL before starting the Fast - not a big decrease really.
My Ketosis was really good this morning, 80 mg/dL, I guess is similar than checking it through my blood. I bought a new scale, with the BMI/FAT % calculation, but I'm not sure it's really accurate, it was showing almost 50% body fat, I don't believe I'm on this high percentage. I am not obese and I workout regularly - but who knows. I'm thinking on doing an enema soon, I don't have any discomfort but just wondering what's doing all that food stuck in my GI tract, I would like to get rid of it. I believe I lost another 3lb since yesterday, my old scale was inaccurate, let's say a Kg less than the real weight (deceiving!) - this scale is precise I am sure, so I will need another few days to see how my body weight fluctuates. I check also my blood pressure afternoon and morning, still in good ranges, I did not see any change after starting the Fast; well it's been only 3.5 days after all. Dry Fasting is great to lose weight, in less than four days I have already lost 9 lb! I wish I could keep this pace; I can see even on my face the fat melting away! Aiming for the full week, wish me luck!
Dry Fast Day #4 - 89 hours
I went for a quick walk today at lunch time, I wanted to checkout a couple of stores to see if I could find electrolytes powder that doesn't have too many ingredients, rather than just Calcium, Potassium, Sodium, Magnesium and other vitamins. My search failed anyway; I should buy the Snake Juice packages on amazon but I'm not interested yet on spending money. I found in a grocery store a salt with half Potassium Chloride, so for now I'll use that one. My mouth is getting dry now, I don't have a pleasant feeling but I'm not actually thirsty. I'm planning on outmatching my second longest Dry Fast, which was 136 hrs, hopefully I will feel good to reach the 140 hours mark. The results with a Dry Fast are amazing and I want to take this opportunity to shed some of my unwanted fat.
Dry Fast Day #5 - 108 hours
I'm now on over 100 hours Dry Fasting, and still amazed on how much weight I lost so far! Since I started I'm now down 5 Kg (11 lb) in just 108 hours! Sure some of this weight loss is water weight, but there's no way I lost 5 Kg of water, some must be fat. My ketosis is still around 80 mg/dL, which is definitely good, but just wondering if the Ketostix shouldn't be darker since I'm Dry Fasting for so long. Yesterday I did an enema, I really didn't want to leave any unwanted stool sitting in my colon - perhaps poisoning my body. I felt much lighter after, I did not have any feeling of BM though, just being conscious. Today I'm thinking on breaking my Dry Fast with ACV, Baking Soda and just a bit of water; after that I will resume drinking water with the 50/50 salt / Potassium mix that I bought the other day. Hopefully my body won't retain too much water with all this sudden salt intake.

Water Fast Day #8

Thursday – Water Fast Day #8
2:00 PM
Yesterday I had the chance to go 40 minutes to the gym for few laps in the pool. It doesn’t seem much but, when Fasting, is a lot, well at least for me; I know of people exercising and doing strenuous activities even further into a Fast, but I tend to become weaker and weaker with the days, it could be a lack of electrolytes, I’m not 100% sure.
I’m still on day #8 though and my energy level is very good, I really don’t feel that I had no food for a week, except for my arms; they are – as usual – the weaker point in my body. The swimming was nice, I had no breath, maybe for my anxiety but most likely because I’m out of shape, but I want to keep on going, I enjoyed after all.
This morning my weight was exactly as yesterday, not even 1gr less! It might be due to the gym and water retention, I don’t know. I checked my Ketosis and it was good, with a purple Ketostix reporting 80md/dL of ketones in my urine, that’s comforting. I have also a little machine to check my body fat and my BMI, but I don’t think it works very well, it seems just doing a calculation based on my weight and age, not really evaluating my body fat; but I guess it doesn’t hurt keep on monitoring through the Fast.
Yesterday I started to add a bit of lemon juice to my hot water, I’m not drinking too much really so I think it will not impact my fast. But this morning I had a sense of acid feeling in my throat after drinking some hot lemon water, and after having a good 2 cups of it I had to rush to the washroom, I’m guessing this lemon is not really appreciated by my GI tract and it’s rejecting it right away! I’ll try to be more disciplined from now on and stick only with water. This weekend though I’m still with the idea on doing a Dry Fast, the weight loss is way faster and I cannot stress this thing more.
Today I feel that my brain activity is improved, I talk differently, I make more elaborated sentences, even at work; for me this is a sign of being deeply into the Fast, getting all – or almost all – the benefits of abstaining from food. I do miss food though, I guess it is such a big part of our lives, a pleasure that it’s impossible to miss. If someone would tell me that in the future we will feed ourselves with pills, I would be highly disappointed; I love to cook, I love to mix new ingredients and trying new recipes, who doesn’t?!
Talking about food, one thing I’m strictly avoiding at the moment is shopping for food, to save in my pantry. I have enough already and, I know I love to shop, but I should not even think about food for now; my journey is still so long that I would own the entire isle 5 of the grocery store if I keep on buying stuff. Plus, looking at food, watching videos, buying ingredients, it’s unhealthy for me when fasting; it creates a stomach-food-cravings expectation, if that makes any sense; so when I’m done fasting the wolf’s appetite will come and hit me so hard to delete completely all my sacrifices fasting – which I definitely want to avoid this time around. God help me!

Second Loading Day

I'm approaching the official start of my VLCDVery Low Calories Diet under HCG and Dr. Simeons Protocol. Today is my Second Loading Day, I'm definitely less hungry than yesterday and I do not want to eat much, I believe is mostly due to all the fatty food I had. I'm drinking lots of water though, I guess it's a normal reaction to all this fat I'm eating, and I feel always thirsty. I had an increase of 2.1 Kg today and my BMI was the same as yesterday, strangely my body fat was just a tiny bit less, which I think it's just a machine error! I planned to check my BMI every day, together with my weight, the inches of body fat lost I might check on a weekly basis rather than daily, I don't think I would see any substantial change every day anyway. I also want to take some pictures today, which introduces the begin of the real diet at the maximum weight I ever had in my life, I do hope to see drastic changes in the coming weeks. I planned to take pictures of my body changing on average every week; I might not do it every week if I don't see big losses. From my previous experience with Dr. Bernstein Diet often I did not have any weight loss, sometime due to certain type of food that was not absorbed by my body in a good way (see tomatoes), sometimes when I reached a former weight that I had in the past; those stalls are the most annoying ones, it might take days before you can see the scale going down again. I think I kind of know now where I might find in the future a former weight, I can be totally wrong but I bet I will have hard time to go down 62Kg, 58Kg and 55Kg; I maintained in my past those values for a while so my body could remember and stop there again.
Sometimes I wonder if this new Diet and the fact that will bring me again into ketosis and starvation mode, could somehow generate new and strong urges to Binge. That's a fear for me; because they can halts the Diet and the emotional stress will be huge. Some people reported to have actually trained themselves using the HCG Diet, to stop bingeing. For me it's a new experience with the Eating Disorder consciousness, so I will have to see myself. I did though some sort of withdrawal from sugar and carbs already. I wanted to start my HCG Diet with no sugar and very low carbs intake; otherwise the withdrawal done during a 500 Calories Diet might be super tough for me that I'm a chocolate addicted.
Today I'll go to the grocery store to buy some organic vegetables and some chicken breast to prepare my meals for tomorrow. With my previous Dr. Bernstein Diet I use to prepare lots' of dishes in advance, some of them I use to freeze, but most of the time I frozen already washed and pre-cut vegetables. This time I might not do it, I would prepare my meals on a daily basis mostly. The reason why I do not want to have food pre-cooked is because I got sick of it! Eventually the frozen vegetables and my dishes tasted very poorly and I never enjoyed eating it. I could tell the difference between meals that were coming just from the stove than one that was coming out from the microwave. I might have stated the obvious here but that's ok, it still explains my point of view…

The only thing that I might prepare in advance is the chicken breast raw meat, I can buy it and remove the extra fat – if any – weight it and save in plastic bags in the freezer. That should not be too bad once defrosted. At the end the amount of food that I eat every day it's so little that a meal shouldn't take that long to prepare, why bother to do too many things in advance?! There are only 2 meals a day: lunch and dinner, and I must to say, I'm almost happy not to have breakfast. I was tired of preparing omelet during my Dr. Bernstein Diet; I'm glad I can skip altogether or just have a tea and an apple.
