2019 Fast 3.0 - Dry Fast Day #3

66 hrs into the Dry Fast - 69.85 Kg (153.6lb)
I restarted my Dry Fast after a previous failure. It was so hard beginning a new Fast, you can't imagine how many times I started my day telling myself: "today no excuses, I'll start the Fast!", to then finding myself eating big breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner! Oh well, fortunately I was able to find enough strengths to go through the first couple of days - those are the hardest ones. I feel good so far, I did not have headaches or withdrawal / detoxing symptoms; I feel well, I'm not thirsty, not hungry and my overall energy is still pretty good. I believe I was well hydrated to be ready to start this new Dry Fast. I'm confident this can be a prolonged Dry Fast, aiming for 8/9 days if my body will let me do it.
For the first couple of days I had regular BMs, I'm urinating as usual and I think the cold weather helps with that too. I'm thinking on doing an enema, if not today I will do it tomorrow - I feel something leftover in my GI tract that I want to get rid off. I didn't check my Ketosis yet, I assume I should be already in Ketosis since all my extremities are really cold. My sleep is not majorly affected yet, I guess in a couple of days I might see changing this sleep pattern. But every Fast is different from another, this time around I feel extremely normal, my body is reacting very well from the abstinence from food and water. I know it is just 66 hrs but I can tell that I'm full of energy ...and saliva!

69 hrs into the Dry Fast - update
I went for my usual walk today for lunch, it was like I did not fast at all. My energy is normal, I'm not thirsty, not hungry; sometimes my stomach is growling - but it goes away in few seconds and it doesn't happen that often. I'm confident I can take on this Dry Fast longer than my previous one, hopefully I can reach my 200hrs goal this time around. I'm urinating less now, but I still went I think 3/4 times since this morning. I'm just bored at work, I don't know what to do and when I don't eat I have so much spare time. I wish I could go on vacation for 2 weeks. Instead I'm stuck at my desk doing absolutely nothing. My mind it not busy with anything so - of course -all my thoughts go to my Dry Fast. Yesterday I was pretty grumpy, I have to admit it. Sometimes happens in the first couple of days, the food-abstinence makes me grumpy and irritable at times. I can tell that my patience is very low, that there's one part of my brain or body that it's screaming at me like: "why are you doing this to me?! Give me food!! I'm starving here!!" - but I'm stronger than that, so I just don't listen. It's seem a torture for whom is reading, but it's all worth it. The after feeling and state of mind is priceless.

Combined Dry & Water Days 11 , 12 and 13

Not much to report for the past 3 days, my Water Fast is proceeding well, I don’t feel hungry at all and my ketones are usually pretty good, always 80mg/dL up to 150mg/dL. For some reason the Ketostix are backordered and I could not find any at the drugs stores, so for now I would just assume I’m in ketosis since I’m not eating anything, I hope I will be able to find a package somewhere in the city.
In the past couple of days I had 2 BMs, mostly liquid of course but it’s amazing to see how after more than 10 days my body is still cleaning up my GI tract. I noticed that when I suddenly drink a big jar of hot lemon water I always need to use the washroom, maybe too much water in once or the lemon effect? Who knows?!

My weight loss is slowing down consistently - unfortunately, I know it’s a normal body reaction but it’s frustrating seeing the scale barely moving, but mostly not seeing on my body the fat going away at the same rate as the Dry Fast. I was actually thinking on starting a new 5/7 days Dry Fast, but I’m still undecided, it is very easy doing a Water Fast when able to sip on lemon water or my kidney tea. Well I guess this is the price I have to pay to please my palate.

Tomorrow I’m going out of town with my parents for the weekend, I hope I can stay away a bit from the lemon water and sip only on pure water that might help the weight loss. I just hope my mother will not start to complain 24/7 about me not eating anything; it will be a tough weekend if I have to listen to her no stop. I know it can be hard to understand for people around you that you’re not eating anything, but I believe concerns are moved by genuine worries though, at least most of the times - and in my case from my mother - for sure. I just try to let her understand that I know what I’m doing, that I feel very good and if I ever experience any problematic discomfort during the fast, then I’ll break it without thinking twice.

Sometime I feel I am a masochistic person, I know exactly that if I drink my lemon water or my kidney tea my stomach really hurts, but no matter what, I do it and do it again all the times! Why is that I really don’t know. When Water Fasting the stomach is very sensitive to everything you feed with, so even a little bit of tea or just a bit of lemon juice in a liter of water can be felt as a stomachache in no time.

One thing I noticed in these days is that my strengths are slightly going down; I feel my purse is becoming heavier and heavier when I walk around, and 2 days ago I went out during lunch time for some errands with few things in my purse, now my left trapezius muscle is killing me. So be careful on where you push your body during a prolonged Water Fast or you might regret it.
Just to say though, that in general I don’t feel weak or tired, is like the mind is super focused, alert, mood is good, the anxiety is almost gone; but my body is on a different wave – maybe busy detoxing and repairing other things inside.

My mouth still feels kind of awful, but my tongue at time changes colour, from stinky white coated to light pink. The “thirst” that lot of people think to feel during a Water Fast is actually the mouth sensation that doesn’t give a rest to a Faster, is not actually thirst – especially when drinking so much water all day. Unfortunately there is not much that can be done with the tongue issue, at least that I’m aware of. We just need to cope with it, it gets better with the days – I tend to get used to, still not feeling right but I don’t complain like during a Dry Fast. Hot water usually helps though – I would suggest giving it a try.

7-Day Water Fast - Day #5

Day #5 for my second Water Fast, this is my first short one of just 7 days, but still good for my body to take a rest from food and heal itself in some way. Fortunately today I don't feel all those cravings I had in the past few days, I still look forward on completing this Fast but overall I'm good, I think I'll be even better in a couple of days.
During my lunch break, here at the office, I went downstairs to go for a walk and check out the Black Friday Week deals. I ended up buying a package of Organic Unsweetened Shredded Coconut, a fairly large container of Nutritional Yeast and a big jar of Powdered Peanut Butter the one with no sugar added. I know I'm a shopaholic and I can't help myself, but in my defense I have to say that not having lunch and work to do is not helping my shopping habits.
This morning my ketosis was between moderate and large amount, I would say around 60mg/dL, which is still pretty good plus I believe the amount of water I had yesterday might have changed the real results. I don't feel hungry at all know, I guess also due to the ketosis, but I had difficulties with my BM this morning; I guess not eating anything is not helping me, so I decided to take a probiotic, hopefully will not compromise my fast and will just help me on being regular during this fast, I really don't want to do again a Shank Pashlanka, it takes too much time and effort.
My back still hurt me a bit today, better than yesterday for sure but I have still difficulties on getting ready in the morning, not sure if the heels could be a reason why this pain. I usually don't walk this much during lunch time so maybe walking around with high heels is not good for my back, but today I have just my boots and not high heels.

I wanted to have hot water to drink today because in the past Water Fast I noticed that as soon as I was drinking it, I was going to the washroom! But too much to wait for in the kitchen so I gave up, if the probiotic don't give me any relief, I'll try with the hot water at home this evening.

One Week after my Water Fast

It's been one week now since I completed my Water Fast and my refeeding process is done too, successfully I would say. I did not experience any issue with my stomach, my BMs are optimal and regular; my weight is being ok so far. Yesterday I noticed that I basically release with my BMs what I ate 3/4 days ago. So some of the weight I gained is due to some water retention and food in my digestive system / colon, which is a normal and expected behaviour.
So far my Raw Vegan Diet is going extremely well, I feel blessed every time I have my huge salad with everything in it, from greens to tons of delicious fruits, I absolutely love it. Today I am supposed to receive my spiralizer so I can start to create more variations for my salads, adding zucchini and cucumbers in a more fun way, enjoying more vegetables to maintain under control my weight as well.
During my lunch break today I went to Winners to buy some Buckwheat but I could not find it, I bought instead Organic Shelled Hemp Seeds; I never had Hemp Seeds in my life I think, and I read online that they are really healthy and with an amazing nutty flavour, so I'm really looking forward on creating my own pesto recipe without using pinenuts, not that I don't like pinenuts or anything – quite the opposite – but I want to try to keep my fat content as low as I can, till my weight is stabilized. I also bought a little bag of Organic Raw Dark Chocolate Nibs and some pitted organic dates (which I already indulged in at lunch having four of them as my dessert).
I watched a lot of YouTube videos of Raw Vegan Vloggers and read few articles about this type of Diet, what I need to do is to create a good 80/10/10 ratio of what I eat, trying to avoid fruits for dinner and having a big salad with anything I want in it, which I'm totally fine and happy to do it anyway. I noticed that most of the people tend to eat mostly fruits in a Raw Vegan Diet, but they also do a lot of exercises or workout activities to consume and earn their own carbs-fruits amount. Sometimes, watching those videos, I really think: WTH!! Is there anyone on YouTube and in the Raw Vegan community that actually has a 9-to-5 job?! Every video that I watch is from a girl that seems having nothing to do during the day that going to the gym or checking Facebook and emails on her computer; nobody that has a regular commute or wake up at 5:00 AM to get ready and go to work? Or unable to come back for lunch and cook for half hour?! WTH!!?! Sorry for my vent but I don't think I am the odd one here, most of the people in the world have a regular daily job, without having always time to spend two hours in the gym and cooking!
