2019 Fast 4.0 - Dry Fast Day #3

64 hours into the Dry Fast
I finally started a new Dry Fast. After a lot of struggles I was able to find internal motivation and stay away from food and water. Now let's see if I can make 10 days Dry Fasting this time around. I didn't check my weight yet, I wasn't feeling in the mood to get depressed by my scale....so I postponed this ungracious event for Day 7/8. I did check my Ketosis this morning and I'm happy to report a high level of ketones after just 50 hours or so into the Fast! It usually takes me 3/4 days before I see the ketostix changing colour - not to mention that I went to an All-You-Can-Eat buffet the night before, for my mother's birthday celebration!
This morning when I woke up I felt a bit weak, my hands were shaking, so I checked my blood pressure and it was a bit low, still in a normal range though. My tongue is a bit white coated, I'm wondering if my body is detoxifying from all the crap I ate lately. I was having two packs of coconut cookies per day - and those were just snacks! Of course now I'm fat like a poor fattening pig close to be slaughtered.
This will be an open ended Dry Fast, aiming for 10 Days but if I can reach two weeks it will be even better!
I'm flying to Italy on April 8th and I have no plans on refeeding before that day anyway.
The only thing I am worried about is the fact that my mouth and tongue feel already very dry - and I didn't even completed my Day #3 just yet. I hope it will not get worse with the days. In the morning I was having mucus in my mouth, I'm wondering if this is a good sign - that the Dry Fast is cleaning and detoxing my body. My sleep is still good, I didn't have any issue on sleeping all night without interruptions. I'm also urinating as usual, less quantity maybe.
I'm thinking on doing an enema soon, I think I still have a lot of food in my GI tract - I want to clean that too and avoid bacteria overgrowth for the lack of bowel movements.

My prolonged Dry Fast - Day #1

Thursday – Dry Fast Day #1
2:30 PM – 15hrs
I think I stopped to drink water at around 11:00 PM last night, but as far as food I had my big dinner earlier at 7:00 PM or so; I would say it’s about 15 hours of no drinking and no eating.
I feel normal so far, after all it’s just few hours; I had no hunger at all today, just one episode of growling stomach during a meeting and that’s all; but in my defense I can say that the meeting was  extremely boring, maybe that’s why!
I went for a walk during lunch time, to get distracted, to move a bit my fat legs; it was ok, every time I stand up from my chair I feel so heavy. I’m wondering when the headache will start, maybe tomorrow. My mouth is not dry but I begin on feeling that awful taste I have when I’m not drinking, not that goes completely away during the Water Fast, but it gets better, especially if I drink hot lemon water.
This time around I was thinking avoiding the lemon in the water or any tea, better if I drink only pure water – SMART water most likely, my favourite. I want to reset completely my taste buds this time around, since I’m planning on taking a long Fast to resolve all my issues. I might introduce salt and other supplements going forward during my long journey.

Why I have a white-coated tongue while Fasting?

So curious on why my tongue is white when I’m fasting I did some researches and try to find a scientific reason for it; I was never sold on the detoxing through your tongue theory. I found different medical answers basically reporting similar responses, this is a simple one found at this link:

"Your tongue is covered with little finger-like projections called papillae. These are what give it a rough velvety surface. They are not the same thing as taste buds!
The papillae themselves are coated with cells; technically stratified squamous epithelial cells, but don't get put off by this detail.
As we eat normally, those cells are sloughed off the tongue (and the other tissues of the mouth) by abrasion with food as it goes past. A mouthful of dry tortilla chips is quite abrasive. So they are continually being formed to replace the ones which are lost.
After a day or so without eating, those cells are still being formed; your tongue doesn't know you are fasting. As a result, a thicker layer than normal builds up, giving a whitish appearance.
After a few normal mouthfuls, the surface cells have been abraded away normally and your tongue looks pink again."

So basically my tongue is white just because, since I’m fasting, all those cells that cover my papillae are keeping on being produces and never scraped off. Now that makes perfect sense to me. When Dry Fasting the white-coated tongue appears way faster than a Water Fast, I guess because somehow the water, the lemon scrape off some of the cells being produced, so the whitening process is kind of slower.

Water Fast Day #18 - Updates and discomforts

This morning I had a confirmation that being lazy is not good not even when you are Water Fasting! My weight did not change and my traces of Ketosis were small this morning at 40mg/dL, while I had a solid Large traces for the past few days. I worked from home yesterday, that's the main reason, in my small apartment there's not much to walk around or to do, and I was also mostly sitting at my desk doing some work.  Today I'm back in the office and TGIF, because I'm getting bored with my assignments and I can't wait to actually do some real work here. I also planned to go to the cinema after work, there's a new Tim Burton's movie that I really want to see, and I don't mind going by myself really.
Tomorrow I want to do a couple of errands, and relax also, weather is getting colder here in Toronto e I don't feel walking around same way as during summer, guess why! This morning my back hurts a bit, nothing crazy but some pain is there; I admit it every time I have some sort of discomfort in my body I wonder is it's part of the detox process, I don't have any confirmation about that but I like to think so though.
My main discomfort so far is my mouth, not just the white coated tongue but the feeling of dryness and the bad breath, unfortunately there's not much I can do about it, even if I try to sip water it still feel the same, I guess I just need to wait till the detox process goes to an end, apparently the tongue will turn pink while the Fasting Process needs to end…let's see if I can reach that point first, I'm planning to stick to the fast at least for 25 days, to ensure my Candida is harmless, but really my body will tell me when it's time to end it.
